Mission Statement

How do I apply for a grant?
We ask that you submit a three-to-five-page Letter of Intent. Please see How To Apply for funding guidelines.

Do you fund programs outside of San Diego County?
We fund programs only in San Diego and Imperial Counties.

Is there a deadline for submitting funding requests?
No. Alliance Healthcare Foundation accepts requests at all times and reviews Letters of Intent on a monthly basis.

Does the five-page limit for the Letter of Intent include the budget, budget narrative and nonprofit status letter?
No. The budget, budget narrative and nonprofit status letter are considered as additional pages. The three-to-five-page letter should include:

  • a brief description of the project or program's target population;
  • a detailed description of the project or program, including its rationale (the reason the program was developed);
  • names and qualifications of the individuals responsible for developing and administering the project or program;
  • a brief description of your plan for evaluating the results of the project or program;
  • the mission and history of your organization; and
  • the primary contact person's name and number.

How much can I ask for?
Our grants, awarded for a one-to-three-year period, range from $5,000 to approximately $300,000.

Do you give grants to individuals?
No. Alliance Healthcare Foundation provides funding for comprehensive health programs to non-profit organizations.

Is there a timeframe within which I need to submit information requested by AHF staff? Yes. You must respond within four (4) months or your request will be closed.

If my organization is awarded a grant, when will we receive the money?
It typically takes about 90 days after the Letter of Intent is reviewed to fund grants up to $25,000. Grants for larger amounts may take three to nine months.

May I invite an Alliance Healthcare Foundation staff member to visit our organization, or arrange a program presentation at your office?
No. AHF's funding process begins with the submission of a Letter of Intent. Our staff may request a site visit after we have reviewed your Letter of Intent.

What do I do if I have a question that was not answered on this page?
