Hamse Warfa, M.S.
Program Officer

Hamse manages grants for Alliance, provides technical assistance to grantees and prospective grantees and represents the Alliance on committees and at public meetings.

Prior to joining the AHF, Hamse spent eight years in a leadership role through his work as the Associate Executive Director for Horn of Africa, a well respected and effective refugee assistance organization, whose mission is to provide culturally and linguistically relevant services to East African refugees and immigrants. Currently, Hamse is the chairperson for the San Diego Refugee Forum, a professional association of organizations and advocates serving all populations fleeing violence and persecution and seeking refuge in San Diego.

Hamse was born in Somalia and moved with his family to the United States in 1994 after escaping from a civil war in his native country and spending almost three years in a refugee camp in Kenya. He attended Crawford High School in San Diego, and then graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in political science. He went on to receive a Master of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield College. In 2008, Hamse completed an advanced graduate-level certificate program on the Foundations of Conflict Analysis from the United States Institute of Peace.
