CEO
Karma Bass is President & CEO of Alliance Healthcare Foundation.
Focused on making connections and leveraging resources, she brings
to this role enthusiastic and passionate support of community health
and wellness, particularly for San Diego’s medically underserved.
Prior to joining Alliance Healthcare Foundation, Ms. Bass was Senior
Research Executive at The Governance Institute, a San Diego firm
focused on educating and training hospital boards of directors across
the country. In her 10 years at The Governance Institute, she consulted
with CEOs and board leaders to identify best practices in the field
and translate them into educational tools that could be adopted
across the healthcare industry. Ms. Bass has written, lectured,
and consulted on policy and governance matters to national audiences
of healthcare CEOs and board leaders.
Prior to The Governance Institute, Ms. Bass was director of Program
Development at the Hospital Association of San Diego & Imperial
Counties for three years, where she led the Community Health Improvement
Partners collaborative.
Ms. Bass is board-certified in healthcare management and holds
a master’s degree in public health with a focus in health
services administration from San Diego State University. She received
her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San
Diego.

Interim CFO
Dan is serving as Interim CFO. He is a partner with Tatum, an executive services and consulting firm with professionals that are seasoned strategic, financial, and technology leaders. He has over twenty-five years of experience in the areas of financial and operational management in U.S. and international companies ranging from pre-revenue to over one billion in sales. He is also an active participant in nonprofits in the San Diego area, with service that includes board leadership to volunteering. He has supported Alliance Healthcare Foundation since November 2006, and is responsible for the Financial, IT and Human Resource functions.

Vice President, Programs
As vice president, programs of Alliance Healthcare Foundation, Linda manages all aspects of the foundation's grantmaking process. Her areas of expertise include the design and evaluation of community-based health programs and management of community advocacy campaigns. In addition to her role at AHF, Linda is a consultant to the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization.
Linda served on the City of San Diego Taskforce on Clean Syringe Exchange and is a member of the city's Clean Syringe Exchange Program Facilitation Committee. She is a member of the Meth Services Planning Group, the San Diego Neighborhood Funders, San Diego Grantmakers Prisoner Re-entry Working Group and San Diego Workforce Funders Collaborative. Linda earned her master's degree and doctorate of public health at Johns Hopkins University, School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland.
Program Officer
Katherine manages all aspects of the San Diego HIV Funding Collaborative, in addition to managing board and discretionary grants for Alliance Healthcare Foundation. She is a member of the San Diego HIV Prevention Community Planning Board and the board's Continuum of Care and Prevention Strategies and Evaluation subcommittees. She is also a member of the San Diego Neighborhood Funders and the Meth Services Planning Group.
Katherine formerly worked as a grant writer for a nonprofit behavioral health organization in San Diego and as a program manager at an HIV/AIDS service organization in San Antonio, Texas. She received her master's degree in public administration from San Diego State University and her bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Office Manager
Kellie has been with Alliance Healthcare Foundation since 1997. In addition to managing the office, she provides administrative and bookkeeping support to the CFO.
Executive Assistant
Karen provides administrative support to Alliance Healthcare Foundation's CEO, CFO and other staff, as well as to the board of trustees and community partners. She worked in administration for Scripps Memorial Hospitals and in the corporate offices of Scripps Health for 20 years before joining AHF in 1998. |
